Endurance racing provides a wealth of information in many areas: aerodynamics, engine, and chassis performance, to name just a few. This kind of real-world data is invaluable to production engineers and designers, and we have made very good use of this lesson learned from the racetrack.
The GAC Motor Racing Team again demonstrated the outstanding performance and durability of GA4 after a dominant performance in the recently completed 12-hour endurance challenge of the Petron Kalayaan Cup 2021.
Leading the team of the drivers Andre Tan, Milo Rivera, Kody Ng, Patrick Mendoza, and Brennan Lim, the GAC Motor Racing Team won the 6-hour racing championship of the Kagitingan Cup 2021 and the racing championship of the Kagitingan Cup 2021. Kalayaan 2021, both in the Open B. -Category, in addition to second place in the main 12-hour race. On a GAC GA4 1.5 MT, the GAC team showed a faultless performance with all four drivers in turns at the wheel and managed to improve from 11th to 2nd place in the 12-hour race. With more than two hours on the clock, Rivera held the GAC team's 4-lap lead ahead of Mike Potency from Mark Young Racing Cars to the finish.
“We knew they had a faster car and a faster pace. They really pushed to catch up as they were a few laps back. As Mike got closer, the plan was to delay his charge if possible and to give us more time, especially during the races. in its final phase. He used his power and the power of the car to take advantage of that, but the goal was achieved to buy us some time and, I think, give people some time to enjoy for a long time,” said Milo Rivera.
Besides 2nd place in the 12-hour race, the GAC Motor Racing Team also won the Kagitingan Cup 6-hour race in 2021 and the Kalayaan Cup 4-hour race in 2021, both in the Open Category B.
For a 12-hour endurance race it was a crossover of racing positions and a strategic battle, but it was the reliability of the GA4 that ultimately led the GAC Motor Racing Team to dominate the Kalayaan Cup Endurance Challenge 2021 flag checkered with no mechanical issues and only for refueling, changing tires and driving out.
"When we started the race, we knew we had a car that was much less powerful than everyone else in the field, probably the one with the lowest performance," said lead driver Milo Rivera. The car made us want to maximize our seasons, not just because of its fuel efficiency but also because of its reliability. in top form, even though we are in the final stages of the race. It felt like an hour,” added Rivera.
