A rundown on the 2021 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing GT Cup: First Round

Despite the difficulties faced with this pandemic, the 2021 Toyota GAZOO racing GT cup still went on with the first round. Racecar enthusiasts and fans of racecar events were able to watch the exciting event from the comfort of their own homes via livestream (one of the advantages of modern technology). In addition, the locations for the racing event have provided viewers with a digital tour in a different country. As hosted by Toyota Motor Philippines, racers competed at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza for the first leg of the race, located at Milan, Italy and as the third oldest circuit in the world with close to 5.8 kilometers in length with many turns has provided a challenge for the racers. For the first day of the event, the winners for the Junior class (17 years old and below) were Russel Cabrera, Josh David Marquez, and John Paul Veloso.  Their victories despite the challenges presented with the track proved how passion, strategy, determination, and skill can win the race.

For the second day, the promotional (non-professional), and sporting racecar drivers (with professional e-sports experience.) took the center stage. The competition for this part was intense as racers have experience and one winner, Estefano Rivera at the 3rd spot has competed for real life tracks with the Vios cup. Other seasoned players such as Terrence Lallave and Luis Moreno won first and 2nd place respectively.

Toyota Motor Philippines has highlighted that the winners of the race would take home upgrades for their gaming arsenal. For the upcoming round, there will be better prizes including gadgets. The 2nd leg is still open for the racers who would still want to compete and participate to continue their game Interested participants can still register for the 2nd leg by signing-up on the official Toyota GR GT Cup website (toyota.com.ph/gtcup).
